A textile is a flexible material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibres often referred to as thread or yarn. Yarn is produced by spinning raw wool fibres, linen, cotton, or other material on a spinning wheel to produce long strands. Textiles are formed by weaving, knitting, crocheting, knotting, or pressing fibres together (felt).

The words fabric and cloth are used in textile assembly trades (such as tailoring and dressmaking) as synonyms for textile. However, there are subtle differences in these terms in specialized usage. Textile refers to any material made of interlacing fibres. Fabric refers to any material made through weaving, knitting, spreading, crocheting, or bonding. Cloth refers to a finished piece of fabric that can be used for a purpose such as covering a bed.

What are the best cheap cloth nappys to use that are sold in australia?
Q. I have been searching the web to find a good quality cloth nappy that purhaps comes as a package with nappy covers. I came over a company called Bambino Mio but they seem to be a bit on the expensive side. All the covers that go over the cloth nappys seem to be over the $25 mark. I am wanting something with great absorbensey and a good price. Any one from australia know of a good product. First baby and I don't know what to use at all. I am very frustrated. I am not interested in using just cloth nappys but using covers over these for extra protection. Any advice ANYONE???

A. Finally, someone else that uses cloth nappies!!! What a relief, i was beginning to think i was the only aussie using them, especially after some woman on here called me an idiot for using them!! ha The ones you have seen on the net are probably these things called fitted cloth nappies, they're not the traditional piece of cloth you fold for your baby. I've never used the fitted ones, i stick to the old school ones my mum used on me! I have found that the ones that Target make are pretty good and they're cheap, good absorbency and quality, but my favourites are these coloured ones that i got from Coles. They were a little more expensive than the plain white ones but they're so cute - reds, blues, greens etc. I can't remember the actual… [cont.]

How do you properly launder cloth diapers?
Q. Planning to use BumGenius when our little one arrives. Well, after we get through all the disposable ones people gave us at baby showers! I was just wondering if anyone has good tips for cloth diapers in general or BumGenius specifically? Also, how many cloth diapers/sets do you keep on hand?

A. I laundered bumgenius, fuzzibunz, and happy heineys for two years and this is the what I think works best: 1 Rinse cycle with cold water- no soap 1 hot wash cycle/ cold rinse with a small amount of Charlie's Soap. If your machine allows an extra rinse you could select that too. Dry the stuffing on hot Air dry the covers I did them every other day and my diapers lasted the whole two years. I had 16 or 17 diapers total and that seemed like a good amount.
