A. Because there is a whole life in some towns that revolve around the tourist trade, or the visitor's money. I used to live in Illinois/Wisconsin's Chain o' Lakes region and 4th of July was a big, big day for the retailers to take in tourists' money. Without tourism, there'd be no way that these retailers could make a living. Amytiville is in such a situation. Without tourism, the town starves. Giant shark = no tourists.

A. It would be great but it will probably be ruined with loads of CGI and bad acting. The original and part 2 were the best. I would cast George Clooney as the misunderstood sheriff of Amity Island, Katie Holmes as his wife with baby Suri in a cameo having a close call with the shark. Angelina Jolie would play a role similiar to Robert Shaw's character from the original and Jennifer Aniston would be the scientist from New Zealand. The plot line would contain some references to dwindling fish stocks and there would be a conflict between the fishermen blaming the shark but ...Wait! The shark is on the endangered species list - what to do?! What to do!? The ending would leave an opening for a sequel but this time with a giant squid and it… [cont.]
